Telemedicine FAQs

Yes, a telemedicine appointment is very similar to an in-person appointment. However, there are a few steps you will need to complete from home before your scheduled visit. Specifically, you should check your weight, blood pressure (BP) and pulse (please make sure to use an arm/bicep BP cuff/machine NOT a wrist one), plus your waist circumference at home prior to your appointment. Our staff will call you beforehand to provide clear instructions and guidance on how to take these measurements accurately, ensuring that the information you provide is reliable for your consultation
Yes, our medical providers will dedicate the same amount of time to your telemedicine appointment as they would for an in-person visit. During your virtual consultation, the doctor will thoroughly review your treatment parameters, just as they do during a face-to-face appointment. You will have sufficient opportunity to ask any questions and express concerns, ensuring that your needs are addressed in the same manner as they would be during an in-person visit.

Not before your first appointment.

If you already have recent lab results from the past three months or an EKG printout from the last six months, you may upload these documents to our patient portal. This will allow our doctor to review the information during your first telemedicine appointment.

During the time of your telemedicine appointment, laboratory tests will be ordered as needed. You may visit any local lab draw facility to have your blood drawn.

Additionally, during the time of your telemedicine appointment, an EKG may be ordered- if so the actual EKG testing can be completed at our clinic by scheduling a convenient time, or you may choose to have your EKG performed by your primary care provider (PCP) or your local urgent care clinic. If you opt for your PCP to conduct the EKG, please ensure they fax the results to our office.

– Telemedicine Insurance Coverage and Payment Options

Insurance Verification for Telemedicine Visits
Our staff will generally reach out to your medical insurance company to confirm whether your plan covers telemedicine appointments. In most cases, insurance providers do offer coverage for telemedicine services, allowing you to take advantage of virtual healthcare consultations with ease.

– Options for Patients Without Insurance

If you do not currently have insurance and plan to pay out-of-pocket as a “cash pay” patient, we encourage you to contact our staff directly. They will provide you with detailed information regarding our cash pay rates for telemedicine and in-person appointments, ensuring you are informed about your payment options prior to scheduling your visit.

Yes, we can schedule an in-person visit at your convenience.

To ensure a thorough and accurate telemedicine consultation, you will need to have the following items available:
– An at-home blood pressure monitor that is appropriately sized for your upper arm (bicep area) that you will use to check your blood pressure and pulse before your appointment.

– A flexible sewing tape measure to determine your waist circumference. This measurement will be discussed as part of your health assessment.

– A reliable home scale to weigh yourself on the day of your scheduled visit.
Please record your weight, BP, pulse and waist measurement and be prepared to share this information with the healthcare provider during your consultation. If you have any questions or would like further clarification about the equipment requirements, please call our office. Our staff will be happy to provide additional guidance and ensure you are prepared for your telemedicine appointment.

Yes, your information is secure because the telemedicine website that we use (Doxy.me) is a HIPAA-compliant platform. This means that Doxy.me meets the strict privacy and security standards required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), ensuring that your personal health information is protected during your virtual visits. Doxy.me is widely trusted within the medical community for its security and reliability, so you can feel confident that your information will remain private and secure throughout your telemedicine appointment.

We generally recommend that you log in approximately 15 to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This extra time allows you to address any technical issues that may arise and ensures you are ready when your appointment begins.

Once you have logged in, please call our office so that our staff can check you in for your appointment.

If you encounter any technical problems while logging in or during your telemedicine appointment, do not hesitate to call our office. Our staff is available to help you troubleshoot and resolve any technical glitches that may occur.
