Meet Dr. Obi
Dr. Obi Chukwuocha (known as “Dr. Obi” by his patients), is one of the few Medical Bariatricians to be board certified in Bariatric Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association, the Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society and the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association.
Dr. Obi has been practicing in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex since 2004. He has actively worked with bariatric surgeons in managing weight loss surgery patients in a hospital setting. He has also treated post-surgical bariatric patients and non-surgical weight loss patients in private practice. The unique fusion of his experience enables him to use a comprehensive medical approach to help you attain sustained weight loss. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Obi has successfully treated over thousands of patients, helping them lose weight and keep it off. His passion is to use weight management as a tool in helping patients improve their overall health and wellness.
Education
Dr. Obi graduated with a Bachelor of Science with honors in Biology and a minor in Biopsychology from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. He received his medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Residency training in Family Medicine at Union Hospital of the Saint Barnabas Healthcare System, in Union, New Jersey. After residency, Dr. Obi successfully completed Fellowship training in Sports Medicine as well as additional training in Bariatric Medicine.
In 2004, he was awarded the First-Place Prize Winner of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine Educational Consortium (NYCOMEC) Research Project and was also awarded the Union Hospital Medical Staff Academic Scholarship Award for Outstanding Research Endeavor.
