Bariatric Surgery Aftercare
Our Bariatric Surgery Aftercare protocol includes all the non-surgical medical care that you will need after your bariatric surgery. At Worthy Weight Loss, we have designed a comprehensive and effective post bariatric surgery aftercare protocol geared to assist you with attaining your best post-surgery bariatric solution. Whether you had a Lap Band, (Gastric Band), Intragastric Balloon, Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y), Gastric Sleeve or a revision to a previous bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery), our aftercare protocol is designed to assist you with re-starting your stalled weight loss.
We serve all North Texas bariatric pre- and post-surgery patients, including patients from Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Allen, Richardson, Rockwall, Frisco, McKinney, Grapevine, Denton, Carrollton, and Prosper, just to name a few. Some of our bariatric surgery aftercare patients come from outlying areas like Decatur, Waco, Sherman and even Abilene, Texas. Our aftercare protocol includes regular visits with our doctor; frequency of visits will depend on your medical presentation. These medical appointments will also include nutritional counseling, weight loss medication management, weight-related behavior modification, psychological support and counseling when needed. In addition, regularly scheduled blood tests are ordered and checked to help you appropriately adjust your post bariatric surgery vitamin regimen.
The list of obesity related diseases is lengthy. They include Pre-Diabetes (Insulin Resistance), High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea and Joint Arthritis and others. Although your weight loss surgery is a major tool in managing your weight and its related diseases, only a trained and experienced bariatrician like Dr. Obi, is best equipped to help you control your weight and its related diseases long term after bariatric surgery. There is ample evidence in medical literature showing that many patients who undergo weight loss surgery eventually experience post bariatric surgery weight regain (Sjostrom et al., 2004; Christou et al., 2006). However, this problem can be controlled by following a thorough post bariatric surgery aftercare protocol with an experienced medical bariatrician.
